OEM Antenna too long? Shorten it! Here's a great little DIY project that doesn't cost a thing.
Procedure
1. Use a bench vice and put the antenna so that the "ball" is 1/4" above the vice.
2. Using a pair
of wire cutters curved side towards the vice, pop the ball off.
3. Cut the Antenna using a hacksaw or high speed cut
off wheel. (I cut them at 8 turns of stabilizing wire).
4. Then use a bench grinder, grind the tip of the new antenna
down so that the ball will ALMOST fit on it.
5. Set the ball on a bench, line the antenna up with the hole and smack
it with a hammer.
6. Voila! Instant short antenna.
