DIY Project 93

Cheap '04-up Meshed Air Dam
by gonzo777   (Difficulty: easy)

Tools & Materials

6"x20' Roll of Gutter Mesh (from hardware store, costs less than $2)
Zip ties
Scissors
Sticky Zip-tie mount (optional)

The Project:

1. Unroll the gutter mesh and trim to three lengths: one for the center and one for each fog light area.

2. Cut an oval in the center of the fog light section so that you can tuck the mesh under the bumper and around the fog light.

3. From under the bumper, tuck the mesh into the fog light cavity. Yellow arrows show locations where the mesh can be secured by tucking alone. This will help bend the mesh to a snug, nice looking fit.

4. Use zip-ties to secure the mesh to the bumper according to the blue arrows in the following photo.

5. Insert the center section, tucking behind the black plastic piece (shown in photos above and below) and securing with zip-ties to the black-covered supports under the license plate section (blue arrow).

6. For additional support of the center section you can apply a self-stick zip-tie holder (or anything that will server this purpose, such as a hook) on the backside of the bumper and secure the center mesh with another zip-tie.

7. Enjoy your newly customized air dam!
