Upgrading the Rear Sway Bar

In everyday driving situations the Elantra GT is a competent performer. One of the
more noticeable issues is excessive body roll and a bit too much understeer. For more spirited, sporty driving we need to
lessen this body roll and understeer. Here's where this simple upgrade comes in. The GT's stock rear sway bar is 15mm thick,
not really thick enough to handle the way we like. So what to do? Again, it's the Tiburon to the rescue! It just so happens
that the 19mm thick rear swaybar on the 2003 Tib is a straight plug-in for the stock GT bar. Here are the parts you'll need:
55511-2C000 Bar, 55513-2C110 Bushing (2), 55530-29500 Steel End link (2). The installation is pretty straightforward and can
be accomplished in an hour or two.
This difference with the thicker sway bar installed is dramatic. The body roll bugaboo
that plagues the stock GT is all but gone. The car also has much less understeer and simply feels more stable. Amazingly,
the car ride quality doesn't suffer at all. At less than $150 this is a great investment in upgrading your GT!

Our friends at Performance Styling Centre have a couple of alternatives to the Tib's 19.2mm rear bar. They offer both a fixed position and a 3 point adjustable 20mm
bar for the GT! Something to consider...
