NOTE: led’s will last longer and won’t fade, but some
led bulbs can be
too long for socket. This is such an easy change that it wasn’t worth the hassle for me to worry about bulb length. I’ll just swap them out if mine burns out or fades! *Total cost ~$0.99!
The Project:
Note: YOU DON’T HAVE TO REMOVE THE CRASH PANEL!
1. Remove the 3 screws from the underside of the steering wheel shroud.
2. Separate the upper and lower steering wheel shroud using the flathead
screwdriver or putty knife. Be sure not to leave any nicks or dings that will be visible on the shroud. 3. Remove the upper and lower shrouds to reveal the ignition switch
assembly. 4. Untwist the #74 bulb socket on the back of the “light ring.”
5. Pull out the bulb and replace with new #74 bulb.
6. Reassemble and enjoy the new and improved look of your night-time
interior! NOTE: if you choose to use led’s, wide-angle OR focused should
be fine
as the ring is “slatted” so it refracts light evenly around the ring much like an angel-eye. |
