Flywheels

Lighter is Better

The idea seems simple enough. If we can reduce the weight of the flywheel we can free up some usable horsepower which would otherwise be used to turn the flywheel. Ohio's Fidanza Engineering makes a durable, lightweight aluminum flywheel that will fit our car. It weighs in at a paltry 7.5 pounds, yet is quite sturdy. For comparison, the stock steel flywheel in the Elantra GT weighs over 14 pounds! It retails for approx. $300 and can be ordered from Kore.
