I guess I'm easy on my clutches. I've yet to burn out a clutch on
any car I have owned. Including putting well over 110,000 on the one in my '87 Acura Integra. From what I've been hearing
clutch longevity may be a problem with the Elantras. Of course, it all depends on how you drive. With a lot of folks
modding their GT's a more heavy duty replacement clutch may also be desired.
Some aftermarket Hyundai sites have been suggesting replacing the stock GT clutch with
a Stage 2 clutch. I personally don't see this as the way to go. Stage 2 units are more for highly modified street
cars... turbos, superchargers, nitrous and the like. I just don't think the kind of mods most people do on their GT's warrants
going to Stage 2. Of course, this is just my personal opinion. My suggestion
is to go for a Stage 1 Ultra G Heavy Duty Clutch from Unorthodox Racing. These Kevlar clutches will handle a 30-35% increase in torque over stock. They also will maintain a nearly stock feel!
