DIY Project 74

A Simple '04 Short Ram
by jimnran (Difficulty: easy)

Here is a very cheap and easy DIY for the intake. I did this simple short ram in about 10 minutes with a flat tip screwdriver.

All I did was remove the air box lid and filter, then attached the new filter to the mass air sensor and screwed it tight.

I removed the plastic heat shield to let more air in. The heat shield won't block the engine heat enough to make a difference, you don't have to remove it if you don't want to. I got the filter at Pep Boys for $26, I have seen them at other parts stores for about the same price. The outlet on the filter is I bought is 3" and the inlet on the stock tube is 2.75".

This is a great mod for someone who wants some added power but doesn't want to tear the engine a part. It does have a throaty sound when accelerating but not too bad. You can't hear it when it is idling. Enjoy!
