Adding
an additional 12V Outletby

____________________________________________________________________I wanted an extra 12 volt outlet so I could run a radar detector and charge
my phone at the same time, or so I could charge two phones at the same
time. This is a very easy DIY for anyone wanting an extra outlet. The
only problem I had was figuring out where to mount it, where it ended up
was good enough for me. ________________________________________________________________________________
1) Using the Clubs easy dash removal, remove dash. Or, all
I did was remove the lower section under the HVAC, exposing the wires currently connected to the existing cigarette
lighter.
2) Using some spare wire, (the oulet I bought came with about
3' of wire) splice into the positive (blue wire) and ground (black wire), soldering or taping your connections. I tested
the extra outlet to make sure it was good.
3) I let the wires drop down and slightly notched a tiny chunk
of the dash fascia so the dash could be reinserted. _____________________________________________________________________
I just tucked my oulet towards
the back of that console with double
sided tape. This way it is easy access for me, and can be easily removed.
Eventually I will probably mount it into the armrest cubby, but due to
time restraints and my laziness this will work for now. Keep in mind I
would not run more than a cell phone charger and radar detector without
changing fuses in the fuse panel - I believe the existing one is only a
5 amp.
