NOTE: This project is based on installing a new OEM
spoiler which includes a paper template and rust inhibitor. If purchased used, you will need to buy rust inhibitor and create
your own paper template.

The Project:
1. Open the hatch and remove the plastic center cover (photo 1) on
the inside of the deck lid. Remove the nut (one per side) on the ends (photo 2) of the deck lid where the spoiler will be
mounted.
2. Carefully, tape the spoiler's paper template in position on the
rear deck lid, making absolutely sure the postitioning is correct.
3. Use pen to mark where drill holes go. Remove the template and
drill the 3 holes in the rear deck (I started with a small bit to make the initial holes and gradually enlarged the holes).
There are 2 holes on the ends and one in the middle to be drilled. The spoiler itself has the 3 bolts attached to it.
4. Test fit the spoiler. It should go on snugly but do not "force"
it. Make any necessary adjustments to the holes in the rear deck for proper fit.
5. Use a generous amount of the rust inhibitor that came with the
spoiler in the 3 holes you drilled.
6. Remove the double-faced tape backing paper from spoiler.
7. Install spoiler in rear deck pushing the bolts through the three
holes. Make sure it is postioned properly and flush to the deck lid then press firmly in place.
8. Open the rear hatch. You'll now see the three bolts. Attach the
nuts to the three spoiler bolts. Tighten until very snug. For an extra measure
of protection from rust and water leakage use a waterproof sealant around the bolt holes. Snap plastic center (photo1) cover
into place.
9. Step back and enjoy your new, sportier looking Elantra GT Hatchback!
