Lighting it up!
The stock
GT headlights and fogs are really pretty good. For most people, they're all that you'll
really need. For those needing a brighter, whiter light there are certainly a lot of options. Our forum member 5port has quite
a bit of experience in this area and he has kindly allowed me to post his experience here. This information is very valuable
and he has a terrific and inexpensive aftermarket solution!

"I've been thru all the combinations of aftermarket lighting
on my '01 GT. Yes the stock low beam is quite good but I wanted something more towards the white spectrum:
1) Went
from stock to PIAA Xtreme White H7 bulbs. These were pretty good except that I took them right out the same night I installed
them. There was just not enough light ON THE ROAD. I then had a change of heart and thought I would give them a chance. Reinstalled
them and used them for 7 months 'til one burnt out. Their light color was also too blue and not white. Not recommended.
2)
Next I installed a McCulloch HID system in the low beams for $500. Worked quite well but I had so much light output I had to aim the low beams down more than
I would have liked. After about 6 months one of the HV ballasts burnt out and the company wanted $250 to replace
it. Out with the HID system.
3) Next I tried the European Sylvania Silverstars. I had to send to England for them as they are not sold in america in H7. Also I had to buy the clear bulb as Sylvania does
not make h7 in superwhite yet. In a nutshell a letdown. No better light output than the stock bulbs and just as yellow.
4)
I discovered a set of Roadmax Metal White bulbs on Ebay for $14.99
a pair. I am now using these and am very happy with the light output and color. They are rated at 3850K and are white not
blue. You can't beat the price and performance of these not to mention they are 55W so you will not have a problem
with wiring harness. I say go for the Roadmax Metal White H7. Just search H7 Superwhite on Ebay and look for the $14.99 price."
Based on this information from 5port, Roadmax Metal White's
are the way to go. - GT Man
