Less Restriction ~ More Power
It's a pretty simple premise. Our beloved 2.0 liter Beta motor just has too many restrictions to get the most
out of it. By tweaking various components the stock 135hp and 133ft/lbs of torque can be substantially increased.
One of the most restrictive elements of our engine is the stock throttle body. The stock TB is only 54mm which
is simply too small. We really need a TB that's more like 58mm therefore creating more airflow and power and better throttle
response.
Thankfully there are quite a few big-bore aftermarket throttle bodies available for our car. Among others, HDK Autosport and Shark Racing have 58mm throttle bodies which include the cruise control module. While this is not a cheap upgrade (about $300) it
is well worth it for the increases in hp (about 5%), low-end torque (about 10 ft/lbs) and improved response time!
