Note:
Strut Bar installation is different for different bars. Some mount over
2 studs and some
over 3 studs. Generally, the bend in the bar goes towards
the rear with the smooth side up.
Tools Needed
Ratchet
and sockets
STEPS
1. Remove the 3 strut upper mounting nuts on each side. (14mm)
2. Place strut bar in proper position over the studs.
3. Replace the strut upper mounting nuts to hand tight.
4. With the connections of the bar to the mounting plates loose, push the bar and plates
as far to the rear of the car as possible and tighten on strut upper mounting nut on each side.
5. Pull the bar up, on each side, in each mounting plate bracket as far as it will go and
tighten the connecting bolt/nut. (This will keep it away from the throttle body
as much as possible)
NOTE: It may be necessary to grind a bit of the bar away to completely
miss the throttle body. You can determine this by starting the car now and putting it in reverse. The torque of the motor will rotate the engine forward. If
the throttle body hits the bar, you must grind or return. By now, these design
flaws should be resolved.
6. Tighten the remaining strut upper mounting nuts
7. ENJOY!!!
Personal Note: This modification is only noticeable while
driving at 8/10th to 9/10th of the cars ability. It actually raises that 8/10th
to 9/10th from what was before the install. Otherwise you will never feel it
or notice it. It will simply be for looks.
