DIY EuroStyle Antenna Mod:

by RonsRallyRedGT   (difficulty level: easy)

A few months after I purchased my car, just over a year ago, I quickly noticed that the standard mile-long metal antenna didn't fit the sporty image of the GT.  Being the Ebay Aficionado that I am, I started looking for a replacement antenna on Ebay.  I quickly found the one that I wanted, listed under Elantra GT.  Check out this link that's located in our site's Customizing section.

This is a hard rubber antenna that fits perfectly on the GT.  You just can't go and pick up a replacement antenna anywhere, because you wont get the Special Korean Adapter thats supplied with the Antenna Man's (Ebay ID: jvmax) EuroStyle Antenna.  Cost is $18 for the antenna plus $4 for shipping.  Can't beat it for the price!  This is a very simple, inexpensive and stylish looking upgrade.  I haven't noticed any loss of reception between my old yardstick antenna and the EuroStyle Antenna.  Works great!

Antenna Installation Tools Required:

Pliers (For removal of the OEM antenna ONLY.)

Soft Cloth

Installation:

  1. You don't want to scratch your OEM antenna, in the event you decide to re-install it later on, so use a soft cloth to wrap around the antenna base.  Grasp the base with the pliers, at the inset grooves for a good grip (See Photo 1).

  2. Turn the antenna counter-clockwise (left).  After a couple of turns, it should be loose enough to finish removing it by hand.

  3. Assemble your new EuroStyle Antenna by screwing the antenna clockwise (right) into the Special Korean Adapter (See Photo 2).

  4. Your new EuroStyle Antenna is now ready for installation (See Photo 3)

  5. DO NOT USE THE PLIERS FOR THIS STEP!!!  By hand, simply screw your EuroStyle Antenna clockwise (right) into the cars antenna base (See Photo 4).

  6. Congratulations!  You just completed an easy and worthwhile DIY project!
