The GT's four
wheel disc brakes are decent enough. But there's always room for improvement. For the ultimate in braking you can buy a big
brake kit. Upgrading to ventilated discs is an excellent option as well. Unfortunately, the average GT owner probably doesn't
have the money to make such a large investment in upgrading their braking system. Those looking to improve the brakes on a limited budget may want to consider replacing
the stock brake pads with performance pads.
Right now there are two very good options for the GT. Either the Hawk HPS brake pads
or EBC Brakes award winning GreenStuff pads would be the way to go. I'd have to say the GreenStuff pads are the ones I'd choose.
The EBC GreenStuff pads are Kevlar based and are very kind to the brake rotors. They are extremely resistant to fade
and you'll notice a major decrease in brake dust on your wheels with these! The manufacturer claims up to a 30% increase in
braking performance with these installed. Both the Hawk and GreenStuff pads are available online for the GT at places such
as The Tire Rack and retail for about $70 a pair.
