Installing an OEM Headunit Bin

Installing an OEM Headunit Bin w/Door

by Vampyrate (Difficulty: Easy)

This part is available through your Hyundai dealer or http://www.hyundaipartsonline.com (part #00271-84004) and is a nice upgrade over the standard open bin.  It's great for any aftermarket unit, makes the installation perfectly flush and gives you a closeable storage bin.

1. Remove the dash fascia. There are four screws to remove. Two are located behind the ashtray. The other two are located in the plastic "hood" over the instrument cluster. After removing the screws, pull the dash fascia off. You'll need to remove the connectors for the cigarette lighter, clock, hazards and TCS switch if equipped.

2. Unscrew the six screws that hold the old bin and headunit (they are attached with a bracket).

3. Remove the headunit and unscrew the bracket.

4. Slide the headunit into the new bin and line up the screw holes and screw in one side. Don't worry about making both sides even, that is why you are doing it on one side only first.

5. Line up the other side of the headunit with where the first side was to make it even and also screw that side in. Now just put the headunit and bin back into place.

6. Screw in the bin and headunit into the dash with the same six screws from earlier (it lines up perfectly and no modification is needed, since this is an OEM piece from Hyundai).

7. Reinstall your dash and you are all done.
